Meriden Animal Control ("MAC") is once again beyond capacity. The ACOs will have to euthanize for space. I received the email below from Marlena DiBianco, Director, Meriden Humane Society ("MHS"). MHS does its best to help but is also constantly running at capacity. Despite a weekend of successful adoption events neither MAC nor MHS can keep up with the numbers of dogs and cats in need.
If you can help please contact Meriden Humane Society. We will be updating daily to feature the dogs in need. Both MAC and MHS dogs are listed. PLEASE NOTE: MHS is no-kill but MAC is not. By helping to find a home for a MHS dog a space is opened for a MAC dog.
To contact MHS, please email meridensociety@sbcglobal.net or call 203-464-8161. We will do all we can to assist with transport. Thank you.

From Marlena:
Was trying to get some rest today after a very long weekend of adoptions and fundraisers.. when i just received a phone call ....the MACO had taken in quite a few dogs and they need space.. again...
Now i know we have all been doing everything that we can for them..
and i thank you all very much.. but i need to ask a question? Has anyone heard back from Shepard rescue? Shar Pei rescue?.. any bully breed rescue at all??
i have not...
and i am afraid that unless i hear something back from anyone of them soon, we will not be able to save the ones that we wanted to..
i am pulling four tomorrow..which ones , i do not know yet.. do not know where i am going to place them at all... but i will deal with that tomorrow.. there are good ,placable, loving dogs there...
yes, i am a realistic person.. we cannot save them all... and yes, i do believe that there is a better place somewhere else for them.. heaven is just around the bend for us at anytime..
i feel that i have not done enough to get them out... and realistically i know i cannot possibly help them all...
the lab mix puppy... getting closer..... but if she was to get out of that kennel she would be fine.. for she is terrified of the noise... the barking.. and the water.... i have sat with her daily by her kennel.. threw the ball into the air.. she has potential.. she is interested in the ball and me... we will see tomorrow..
the days and nights i have sat with these dogs.. said my prayers that someone would come through.. help for them would arrive.. and i would smile again..
this city has done so much damage to these dogs.. people are the horrific ones... as we all know it is the people not the animals that have done this damage to them... truly i live for the day they can be all free... free of the hands of the pathetic people that abuse and neglect them...
i was happy for a time this weekend.. so many got a chance at a new home...it was a wonderful feeling to see them leave to their new homes....
sadly like so many other Tuesdays... the threat of killing lies right in front of me... what am i to do? he asks for my help and i gladly give it to him.... he does not want to euthanize either ..he too is looking for the miracle....
i am saddened... need some rest so i can focus ..... but awakened by a call for help....
if there is a chance these other rescues can possibly come through.. please let me know...
tomorrow will be a long day... sad day... i will plant another tree in the garden for the ones that might be going Thursday....
right now, i will concentrate on getting help...
any suggestions would be much appreciated at this time...
love you all....
